Pupils produce their own paperback book!
What you can get:
- I’ll come to your school for the whole day
- You can have writing and literacy workshops tailored to suit your schedule, your pupils and your topics
- I’ll work in class with the kids, one class at a time
- Pupils learn to structure a story working as a group
- They then learn to give each other constructive criticism, and move beyond their original ideas
- Your pupils will end up with brand new written work, or a selection of ideas they can develop later – it’s your choice
- Plus they get to create their own real paperback book and host a book launch
- And, of course, you can order books for parents and sell them at a mark-up, running the project as a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style entrepreneurship scheme!
Two book options:
- Option 1 – I write up their group work into an original story, or
- Option 2 – An anthology of the pupils’ own stories and illustrations
Regular Format: Two 1hr 45 minute sessions with one class each, tailored to suit your needs.
Cost:
£360 per day
About me:
- I trained at drama college in London, where I got a BA degree in Community Theatre Arts, specializing in working with school children to develop stories for performance
- Since 1991 I’ve worked (and still do) as co-director of Timezones Curriculum Support Ltd, running workshops in schools and writing educational performances, funded by the business community
- My first published novel, Killjoy, won Kinglake Publishing’s ‘Book of the Year 2010′ (Thriller category), and reached the top 50 in the Amazon UK thriller chart
- My second novel, the young adult fantasy Gravelight, got rave reviews on the Arts Council-funded website ‘YouWriteOn’. Thousands of books from all over the world were reviewed and ranked by authors, and in May 2011 the results came in: Gravelight was awarded the number two spot on their ‘Children’s Book of the Year 2010 chart’
- My writing is now represented by top London literary agent Eve White, who specializes in children’s writing
